Milt and I were neighbors in Evanston. Met his Dad several times at Milts house for family events.
He was a delightful and charming good spirit. May Peace always be with you Alex.

Dear Helen,
I mailed a note to you as soon as we learned of your profound loss, but today it was returned as undeliverable. I used the Stowe Ct. address. So here is what the note said.
Dick and I were very saddened to read in the paper of Alex’s death. After being your neighbors for 11 years, we got to know and admire both of you and have always been grateful for your advice about traveling with grandchildren. Due to your example we’ve enjoyed many unforgettable trips that are among the best experiences of our lives.We know you had a long and wonderful marriage and hope that your memories and family will bring you comfort.
Dick joins me in sending our deep and sincere sympathy.

Family? A mystery. I met Alex in Yiddish Club at the North Shore Senior Center several years ago. He told a story and mentioned Tarasha, Chernigov Gebernia. My Mother was born in Tarasha. My ears perked up since I had never met anyone other than family who mentioned Tarasha. And he pronounced it the same way that she did, not just , Tarasha, but Tarasha, Chernigov Gebernia. I tried without success to get more information from Alex. A few weeks later Alex told another story and mentioned family from Staradub. My Grandmother’s family was from Staradub. I contacted Alex’s family and we had lunch with Alex, his wife and daughter. We could not put together any family connection.

Sending love to all of you. I will always think of Alex as someone who lived his life with incredible joy and gusto. When he entered the room, he really entered the room and was always interested in what was going on with us, and what funny stories we had to tell, and always loved sharing his funny stories. He was funny, he was enthusiastic, he hugged people tight and genuinely enjoyed their company. He was a character in the very best sense of the word and had a voice and laugh I can hear clearly in my mind, even though we didn’t see each other that often. His absence will leave a big hole in the world, but his legacy of love and the kind, funny, engaging, warm, and genuinely delightful children he raised ensures his mark on eternity. Much love to our Chicago family in this tough time and enormous hugs. Look forward to when the hugs can be in person. ❤️

My condolences to Milt, Marty, Galit, Janet and the entire Pinsky family. Alex was one of a kind and I will never forget his smile and laugh. His eyes would light up the minute we engaged in conversation. If I saw him in the kitchen, my 2 minute walk to the kitchen would last 30 minutes because he always had a story to tell. Alex, you will be missed!

My recollection of him is of someone kind, positive, and very accepting of a neighbor boy who spent far too much time in his home. I feel honored that he once referred to me as a “little pisher”. Alex was my first and favorite mentor. I cherish the five years I worked for him, Milt, David and Marty. He helped reinforce my faith in humanity that there are still good people in this world that want nothing more than to help young people succeed with ethics and morality always in the forefront. He was also not afraid to say April, you are being stupid by looking at it that way. How can you not love and adore that type of brutal honesty?!?! You taught me the true meaning of mentoring Alex, and I will always be grateful for having the pleasure of being part of your life for a little while and will never forget what you taught me and promise to pay it forward. I first met Alex in the mid to late eighties. He called on me as a CPA to discuss investment opportunities for my clients. i was successful in his eyes and he graciously recognized my efforts.

Many times I enjoyed being with Alex, traveling throughout the city (he preferred to drive) examining properties, discussing politics, family and social issues. He was very candid with me and I found him to be a man with strong convictions and honest to a fault. Alex and his firm were practicing “full disclosure and transparency” before it became a popular phrase.

I learned a lot from Alex, not only dealing with potential investors, but people in general.

Yes, he was opinionated, but that’s something I admired about him. It made for good spirited conversations. We did not always agree, but we did agree to disagree. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed.

My most sincere condolences and continued nightly prayers to the entire Pinsky family.
